HOTELIERS EXPANDS. Alan Johnson Expands Operations to the United States

Alan Johnson, a leading figure in the hospitality industry in Australia, has expanded his operations to the West Coast of the United States.

Johnson, President & CEO of the Hoteliers Group and a pioneer in the Hotel Industry in Australia, has taken over the management of the Ramada West Hollywood Hotel, one of the more than 5,000 properties operated by Ramada Worldwide.

The Ramada West Hollywood is located on the popular and bustling Santa Monica Boulevard and is strategically situated between Beverly Hills and Hollywood. Distinguished by its modern art deco architecture and styling, the Ramada west Hollywood features

175 spacious rooms & suites decorated in the light pastel colours that are typical of Southern California.

Johnson says that the expansion of the Hoteliers group into the United States is the realization of a long-held ambition and an "exciting development" in Hoteliers' long history.

Johnson, who correctly foresaw the potential of serviced apartment accommodation in Australia in the early 1980s, is equally confident this foray into the US hospitality market will be as rewarding and insightful.

Johnson, who is one of the most experienced hotel operators in Australia, says that his involvement with the Ramada West Hollywood will create new opportunities for the Hoteliers Group in a market that has boundless potential.

Footy Set To Kick Off in Hollywood!

Now that the 2005 AFL (Australian Football League) season has been wrapped-up, it's time to start planning for next year. And what better way than watching the first game of 2006 on the West Coast - West Coast USA that is.

As part of the Australia Week 2006 festivities, Hollywood will play host to a week long salute to Australia's finest exports including the arts, food and wine, fashion and of course AFL football.

Festivities will get underway at the UCLA stadium in Hollywood on Sunday 15 January when the AFL Kangaroos play an exhibition game against the Sydney Swans and compete for the Ron Barassi Trophy.

Former chairman of the North Melbourne Football Club, Alan Johnson, was instrumental in getting the game scheduled as part of the Australia Week programme. Johnson's company Hoteliers International operates the Ramada Plaza Hotel West Hollywood which will host the visiting teams, media and AFL administrators.

The pre and post match entertainment will certainly rival the best that the AFL Grand Final has to offer. The national US and Canada national teams will play for the Dr. Allen Aylett Trophy, and throughout the day the crowd will get the chance to get up close and personal with the Wiggles, crocodile man Steve Irwin and members of the original Little River Band will entertain the crowd at the after match concert.
